Samsung Nexus Prime gets hands-on treatment

An 'in-beta' version of the Samsung Nexus Prime, the new Google phone, has reportedly been played with in the US, with a member of 4Chan claiming they were given the handset by a Samsung representative.

Given that 4Chan is a forum where users prefer to be anonymous the information posted can't be verified but the detailed account does read like it is from someone in the know.

The user explained that the phone is heavier than the Samsung Galaxy S2, has a Super AMOLED 4.65-inch 1280 x 720 HD screen, 16GB internal memory and a dual core 1.5Ghz processor – all specs that have been hinted at before.

Not only was the speed of the phone a major factor, but after loading up many apps performance was apparently impressive.

Win, lose and drawer

As the phone was running Ice Cream Sandwich – the OS that bridges both tablets and phones – the user commented that the UI has had a major facelift since Gingerbread, is smoother to use and the screens had a 'glassy look' to them.

They also noted just how the app drawer – one of the big feature on Android 2.4 – will work.

There are three sections for apps, games and widgets and you can preview how a widget will look on the homescreen before porting it onto the screen, which is handy.

There's no Samsung Nexus Prime UK release date as of yet, but we will keep you updated.

BlackBerry Curve Touch gets the hands on treatment

The BlackBerry Curve Touch 9380 has been given the hands on treatment, with news that the handset seems to be a mixture of the Bold and Curve ranges when it comes to looks.

Specs for the phone have also been revealed and they include an 800MHz processor, 3.25-inch display and 1GB built-in storage, according to BGR.

The BlackBerry Curve Touch 9380 also has a 5MP camera, 720p video capability and will come with NFC support.

It seems that BGR has been busy getting close to RIM, as it also has a very short hands on with the BlackBerry Bold 9790, which is essentially the Bold 9900 packed into the chassis of a Bold 9870.

This handset packs a full QWERTY keyboard, also has a 5MP camera, but its built-in storage is massive – at 8GB.

The BlackBerry Bold 9790 is powered by a 1.2GHz processor, has a 5MP camera, NFC support, Wi-Fi and GPS.

As well as having a physical keyboard it also has touchscreen functionality, which we knew about thanks to the handy leaked video back in July.

There's no BlackBerry Curve Touch 9380 UK release date or, for that matter, no BlackBerry Bold 9790 UK release date either, but it has to be soon – we have been waiting since January to see the Curve Touch hit the shelves.
