Google Nexus Prime gets Bluetooth certification

Google's next Android flagship, the Google Nexus Prime, appears to be one step closer this morning as it emerges that the artist formerly known as the Samsung GT-I9250 has received its Bluetooth certification.

The much-anticipated handset will be a Samsung-made Google-branded smartphone set to be the first to run Ice Cream Sandwich, the next generation of Android OS.

The fact that the mystery handset has nabbed itself Bluetooth certification suggests to us that a launch can't be far off now – and likely Google and its manufacturing partners will be keen to get it on to the shelves in time for the Christmas spend-fest.

Prime-time

Unlike Android handsets made and sold by the likes of HTC and Samsung under its own Galaxy branding, the Google Nexus phones come with the raw Android OS – so no extra bells, whistles or customisations from skins like HTC Sense or TouchWiz.

But it's set to be quite an upgrade from the existing Nexus handset, the Google Nexus S.

From the rumours that have emerged to date, we're expecting to see a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, a 4.6-inch screen with 1280x720 HD resolution and, possibly, a complete lack of buttons.
