IFA 2011: Toshiba launches super slim AT200 Honeycomb tablet

Toshiba has revealed that its AT200 tablet (aka the Toshiba Excite) will be just 7.7mm thick when it lands with Honeycomb 3.2.

Let's review: the iPad 2 is 8.8mm deep. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 comes in at 8.6mm. That means that little old Tosh is beating both the sparring bigwigs at their own slender game.

Still, size isn't everything – can the AT200 compete on other fronts? Its high resolution display is a 10.1-incher, with resolution coming in at 1280x800 – same as the Samsung Galaxy Note we saw earlier today.

Processing power

The AT200 is making use of a 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM to boot – not a bad set of specs there.

Its rear-facing camera is a 5MP affair, but the forward-facer will be much lower quality, intended only for video calling.

The slate will come with storage options up to 64GB, while Toshiba reckons you can squeeze 8 hours of action from a single battery charge; we shall see about that.

No word yet on UK release date or pricing for the Toshiba AT200 - but stay tuned for our hands on Toshiba AT200 review.
