In order to combat the company’s recent financial downturn, HTC has announced a new group within the company that will report directly to CEO Peter Chou and will be tasked with developing “key products” for the company. Dubbed “Studio,” the new team will be made up of HTC’s most talented engineers and designers in order to get HTC back in front of the competition and “regain the edge in products.”
It’s unclear if HTC Studio is already operational, but this news does confirm all the recent stories we’ve reported about HTC focusing more on hero phones in 2012.
HTC will also be introducing new products that feature a variety of components sourced from multiple companies in order to give HTC as much flexibility as possible to compete. In the past, HTC has only used chips from Qualcomm to power its Android phones, a strategy which hurt HTC last year as competitors turned to NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 chip to power their high-end devices.

Let’s just hope they don’t come out with ideas that are too radical and that the consumers would reject. Quad-core smartphones are not a must, yet. They need to squeeze every bit of power from dual-core. I have a good vibe about this :)

ReplyI’m a big fan of HTC. I’ve had 2 phones (G1,G2) and 1 tablet (HTC Evo View 4G) from them. They have the best tech support of anyone I’ve ever had to deal with, much better than Dell or Acer and even Apple.

Went to verizon, bought about 5 different phones before I stuck to the HTC. Now for me it seems like HTC or Bust. I even wanted their Flyer tablet, they stopped selling it at most places. I love my rezound. HTC could break a couple of their mold like thick devices, but other than that I think they make GREAT devices.
ReplyI have only owned an htc phone since the htc touch that ran windows mobile. I love htc and htc sense. I’m glad they are continuing to improve. Looking forward to see what they do, especially since the current htc sense doesn’t mix well with ics.

4cola 8 hours ago Thumb upThumb down 0Owned the HTC Droid Incredible for 18 months, and had a really hard time giving it up after such a long time. I was tempted to get the Rezound but I ultimately decided on the Motorola Droid Razr. My next upgrade, I’ll definitely go back to HTC.

Besides buying the phone with good features, getting the phone to work well in the first place and recover the reputation if the phone do break down is paramount.
I personally have no problems with HTC but I am starting to hear a lot of negative vibes about HTC phone quality from friends. One got a Samsung Note even after I talked to her about HTC and the other got very angry with customer service; his phone did not work even after sending it in for repair.
HTC must understand the phone has become an essential part of a lot of people’s lives (fortunately I can live without connections) and so any breakdown is tantamount to a big negative for the next purchase.
This is where HTC is lacking in Singapore. The customer recovery needs work and a lot of it!
