Motorola Atrix 2 unveiled at CTIA

Motorola has announced a sequel to the powerful Atrix, cunningly dubbed the Motorola Atrix 2.

It's not the biggest upgrade you'll ever see though, as the phone is almost identical to the original Atrix bar a few tiny tweaks.

The new phone has a dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, a qHD 4.3-inch screen and 8GB of internal memory.

However, that CPU is now powered by a TI OMAP core over the previous Nvidia Tegra 2, and the display is now sharper thanks to some pentile pixel arrangement.

Upping the 'Dock

The Motorola Atrix 2 will be coming with Android 2.3 out of the box (something the original still hasn't achieved in the UK) and an upgraded Lapdock 100, which replaces the rather cumbersome first Lapdock, losing the dock in favour of a proprietary cable.

According to Electronista, the updated Moto Blur overlay is present on the new Atrix 2, bringing the same social networking feed integration with a slightly more subtle user interface on top of Android.

We've yet to hear if the Atrix 2 is coming to the UK as it as jointly announced with US network AT&T (and Motorola has told us this is a US announcement), but given the first iteration had such a marketing push we hope we might see this upgraded option sooner rather than later.
